Meet Scott
Scott’s story embodies the American dream, rooted in values of hard work, family, and service. Raised in the Midwest, he earned dual athletic scholarships in football and baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied history to learn from the great leaders of the past. Scott’s success in athletics included being a four-year letterman, an honorable mention All-American in football, and a two-time All-Big Ten member in baseball. After college, he was signed as a punter by the Cincinnati Bengals and drafted by the Chicago White Sox, enjoying a professional baseball career highlighted by MVP honors, league titles, and international play in Venezuela.
Following his sports career, Scott returned to his agricultural roots, managing a 1,200-acre ranch and later running a 100-head cattle operation with his wife, Teresa, until the birth of their children. He then transitioned to the auto industry, where he gained valuable experience in sales, service, and management, rising to become Assistant Service Manager at one of the largest dealerships east of the Mississippi. These experiences instilled in him strong leadership skills and a commitment to helping others.
For the past eight years, Scott has excelled as a mortgage loan originator, helping families achieve homeownership and earning recognition as a Top Performer and Chairman’s Club member at Regions Bank. His diverse career—spanning ranching, the auto industry, and finance—has equipped him with a unique skill set, making him a highly qualified leader. Scott’s civic engagement includes chairing the Maury County Republican Party, serving as Chairman of the County Commission, and fostering collaboration between the commission and school board to support education.
Scott has been instrumental in Maury County politics, championing initiatives to protect the Duck River, fight the landfill, and improve local government transparency by advocating for online access to budgets, agendas, and minutes. He also played a key role in reducing the county’s deficit and producing a surplus as a member of the Budget Committee. His most notable legislation includes funding for the county website and protections for 2nd Amendment rights.
Beyond his professional and political roles, Scott remains deeply involved in the community. He has coached youth sports, including football, baseball, and soccer, and contributed to WKRM’s “Inside Middle Tennessee” radio show, providing updates on local government and events. Scott and Teresa are active members of West Seventh Church of Christ in Columbia, where they continue to raise their family with a commitment to faith, community, and service.
